For the past couple of years Journey Elementary has had the opportunity to partner with several area colleges to host co-teachers in year long and semester long residencies. The idea of having another teacher in each studio to share ideas, strategies, tips and so much more is invaluable. As a result of these close working relationships between the universities and Journey Elementary the student teacher residencies are making positive impacts on Journey’s learners.
A few of the many benefits for our learners include:
· Increased adult attention and interactions
· Increased number of coaching sessions
· Increased social interaction
· Increased instructional support
Recently co-teachers spent a couple of days attending a Math and Reading Boot Camp led by instructional coaches and math and reading interventionists. Attendees spent the day learning core professional competencies deemed essential by the Harrisburg School District.
Journey Elementary is fortunate to have these partnerships and such wonderful classroom facilitators that encourage and mentor co-teachers to learn and to develop their full potential!
